Among the unsung heroes of our community are a dedicated trio of volunteers who ensure that our beloved Square remains a pleasant place for all to enjoy—whether you're here for a stroll, a picnic, or just some fresh air.
Meet the Volunteers Behind the Dispensers
Philip Pritchard, Liz Lang, and Fabien Gilles, along with their faithful canine companions Otis, Nora, Enzo, and Lulu, have taken it upon themselves to keep the dog poo bag dispensers in the Square fully stocked. You might have seen them on your visits, diligently refilling the dispensers so that everyone can play their part in keeping the Square clean.
Why We Need Your Support
The bags are currently funded by local donations. While the dispensers are there to help in a pinch, it's important to remember that they are not an unlimited resource. Last year alone, we used a staggering 36,000 poo bags! That's right—36,000 bags! This number highlights not only the importance of the dispensers but also the growing need for responsible use.
Unfortunately, we've noticed that some people are taking handfuls of bags, presumably for use outside the Square. This is not the intention behind providing these bags. We respectfully ask that all dog walkers bring their own bags and only use the dispensers in case of emergency. By doing so, we can ensure that these dispensers continue to serve the community effectively without running out.
